Student Representatives
LEAH DLA Hub Student Representatives play a crucial role in shaping what the Hub does. The Reps work closely with Hub students and the LEAH management group to share ideas about our training and cohort development programme, provide feedback on enhancing research culture and student experience, review policies, and raise any concerns.
Become a Student Representative for 2026-27
We are looking for 2 students to represent the perspective of doctoral researchers across the Hub. Any current LEAH DLA-funded student, who has at least one calendar year remaining in their studentship, is welcome to apply. This is a paid role, and it plays an important part in ensuring that the Hub remains responsive to DLA-funded students’ training and development needs, and in enabling students to take ownership of Hub activities.
What is invovled
Reps will be asked to prepare for and attend LEAH management team meetings, and engage with DLA-funded students to collect feedback on specific issues and report back at meetings. There are usually 6-8 meetings each year. The Reps will also review 2 round(s) of student-led activity/network funding applications (training will be provided).
In addition, student reps will, with the support of the LEAH DLA Hub, play an important role in fostering communication and connection between DLA-funded students at all Hub institutions.
Student reps will be paid at £21.79/hour (King’s College London current Graduate Teaching Assistant rate). The expected hour of working would be 24-30 hours per academic year, consisting of:
- Initial onboarding training (45 minutes)
- 6-8 meetings attendance (1.5 hours per meeting)
- Preparation for meetings (0.5 hours per meeting)
- Student engagement work (e.g., collecting student feedback, preparing reports) (6-8 hours in total)
- 2 rounds of Student-led activity/network fund applications review (2 hours per funding round + 45 minutes training
Why should you apply
This is a great opportunity to directly impact what LEAH DLA Hub does, connect with your peers, develop leadership and influencing skills, and gain experience in Higher Education governance processes. You will also develop peer review skills by being on the funding application review panel.
How to apply
Application is now open and the application deadline is 17:00 (UTC+0) on Friday 11 December 2026. Please use complete this online form to submit your application.
We ask all applicants to have an informal chat with the Hub team so that you can gain a good understanding of the role and ask any questions you have. You will find more information about booking the chat in the application form.
If there are more than two applicants, there will be a simple election process. All applicants will be asked to submit a short candidate statement based on their expression of interest. The statements will be circulated to all DLA-funded students who will vote for their candidates.
